Contest 113: Meadow Lark, a Pharaoh Contest
Welcome to Contest 113: Meadow Lark This is the Pharaoh contest, but it can also be played with Cleopatra. You must have the latest versions installed in order to play this contest. The link to the patches is on our rules page. Use the links below to download the starting positions:

After downloading, PC players should open the archive with a suitable
programme (e.g. Winzip) Then place
the unzipped file in your family save directory (in the Pharaoh root directory,
Save, [YourFamilyName]; by default C:\Sierra\Pharaoh\Save\[YourFamilyName]\).
To play the game, start Pharaoh, go to your family, and select "Load
Saved Game". You will find Meadow Lark-Easy or Meadow Lark-Hard.
It should be preset at the appropriate difficulty level.
Please make sure you play the game from the start at the correct level
of difficulty. Select Options, Difficulty and check it. If necessary adjust
the difficulty, select new game and reselect the Gifted saved game. Now
you can play.
All players are advised to peruse the remainder of the contest pages (links
to which can be found at the foot of the page), as well as the General
Rules and Pharaoh/Cleopatra
game features.
Story
A New Pharaoh begins his rule, but he needs many goods from you to throw a festival to celebrate his ascension to the throne. He is impatient to begin so you must hasten to comply with all of his demands or the consequencies will be dire, but you must not get the city into debt or the citizens will not be happy..

Completion Criteria: meet all requests and not in debt
Winning Criteria: Fastest Time
A second winning criteria of Culture+prosperity+kingdom rating will be
used in case of drawn time.
The game may be saved and submitted at any time. Gifts are allowed. Annual saves should be made in December; A price increase for gems occurs each December to remind you to save the game, gems play no other part in this scenario. These saves do not have to be submitted, but should be made available upon request.
Designer's Notes
A goal of 99 Palatial Estates is set to prevent the victory screen appearing
and should be ignored.
Meadow Lark is a Pharaoh map that can be played with Cleo as well. Happy
