Procedure for extracting files-

The zip file will contain a number of files (this can vary depending on the scenario). Firstly, the file with the extension C4s should be extracted to the directory Saved Games in your C4 installation (Default location C:\Program Files\Sierra\Caesar4\Data\Save Games). The remaining files should be extracted to the directory Scenarios (default location C:\Program Files\Sierra\Caesar4\Data\Scenarios). You start the save from the Main Menu in C4, selecting Load Save. The save BlingEasy or BlingHard should be listed.

You should also check that the difficulty is set according to the difficulty you are playing. You can do this by bringing up the mission briefing. If the difficulty is not correct, you need to exit the contest map, then load any scenario from the New Game--> Scenario menu. Now change difficulty to that required, exit and reload the contest map from Load Save.

In this contest, a condensed version of the story, along with completion and winning criteria, can be found in the Mission Briefing.

Story:

The New Emperor Addresses His Subjects:
Greetings to you, my Governors and citizens. Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm not sure an introduction is really necessary because you've all known of my forthcoming ascension for a very long time. I am Emperor Caesar the Fourth, newly crowned lord and Emperor over all the realms of Roman Citybuilding. My predecessor, the long lived and mightily esteemed Caesar the Third, has resisted my passage to the position of Emperor of all Roman Citybuilding for so long. Even when the writing was on the wall that I could not be held back any longer, my predecessor continued to hold me back, on the pretext of some sort of Imperial Assessment to find out who his best Governors were.

All that means nought, now that I have taken over. I watched and awaited while some of you carried out the last rites for Caesar the Third, and now my time is at hand. All Hail the mighty Caesar the Fourth, Emperor over all Roman Citybuilding. Long may he rule.

The Proconsul Announces Your Mission:
I'm sending you to the North of Africa to bring back Bling. Not only the jewellery type bling, but lots of exotic goods as well. The new Emperor must have the finest products available in the empire available to him, and your job is to bring those things back. You must do this as quickly as possible to make the new Emperor feel at home.

Designer's Notes

There are no invasions in this mission, but there are requests/demands of goods. Players are permitted to give gifts to Caesar.

The map terrain used in Bling is from the Djedu mission that came with the game.
Please check again to see that you are playing on the right difficulty leve!!!

Modifications of the graphical type will be acceptable in this contest, but any modification that in the view of the judges affords an unfair advantage to the player concerned, will result in the entry being declared invalid. You may not play with any altered game files except as stated above. It is not permitted to amend any of the contest files, except in the course of normal gameplay. A save should be made in December each year, and retained for inspection (not sent with the final entry) should the CBC judges require it.

When forwarding entries to CBC, only the C4s file of the final save is required, not the other files.

Bling is a Caesar IV contest map. It was designed by goonsquad and was tested by JuliaSet.

This contest will close at 11PM EST (US), on Sunday, April 8th, 2007. Please note the date!!!!

This contest has ended.
